Annual Report to Congress and to Agencies Related to the Work of the CPSTF

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), enacted in 2010, directs the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) External Web Site Icon to convene an independent Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF). Under this legislation, the CPSTF is mandated to provide, "yearly reports to Congress and related agencies identifying gaps in research and recommending priority areas that deserve further examination, including areas related to populations and age groups not adequately addressed by current recommendations." (Affordable Care Act, § 4003(b)(1); Public Health Service Act § 399U(b)(6))

The CPSTF reports describe:

  • The CPSTF and its methods, findings and recommendations
  • Key activities
  • Evidence gaps that can be filled through additional research combined with evaluation of existing programs, services, and other interventions
  • Priorities for future CPSTF efforts
  • Examples of how states, local communities, and worksites have used CPSTF recommendations
