CPSTF Announces Chair and Welcomes New Members

Change in Leadership

In January 2023, Dr. Alison Evans Cuellar starts her role as chair of the Community Preventive Services Task Force (CPSTF). She previously served as the vice chair and has been member of the task force for 5 years. Dr. Stephen Hargarten, a CPSTF member since 2019, will step in as vice-chair. Dr. Cuellar and Dr. Hargarten are poised to lead CPSTF in its work to address prioritized topic areas, advance health equity, and promote evidence-based community health intervention approaches.

New Members to Start in 2023 or 2024

CDC director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky has appointed three new CPSTF members to serve five-year terms on CPSTF, starting in either 2023 or 2024. The new members are public health and clinical professionals who have expertise in a wide range of topics including health equity, women’s health, cancer prevention, injury prevention, vaccinations, and health policy.

CPSTF is an independent, nonfederal panel of 15 public health and prevention experts that provides evidence-based findings and recommendations about community preventive services, programs, and other interventions aimed at improving population health. CPSTF members represent a broad range of research, practice, and policy expertise in community preventive services, public health, health promotion, and disease prevention.
