Therapeutic Foster Care: For Children with Severe Emotional Disturbance
Task Force Finding*
In the cluster therapeutic foster care interventions, groups of five families cooperated in caring for five young children (ages 5 to 13 years) with severe emotional disturbance.
On the basis of too few studies and inconsistent findings, the Task Force finds insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of cluster therapeutic foster care in improving violent outcomes among participants.
Task Force on Community Preventive Services. Recommendations to reduce violence through early childhood home visitation, therapeutic foster care, and firearms laws.
