Patrick L. Remington, MD, MPH
Appointed to the Task Force: 2013Patrick L. Remington, MD, MPH is Professor of Population Health Sciences and Associate Dean of the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is also Co-Director of the County Health Rankings project, which provides ranked measures of health for all counties in the 50 states and guides counties to resources for improving population health. Dr. Remington has considerable state health department experience, having spent a decade as Chief Medical Officer and State Chronic Disease and Injury Epidemiologist at the Wisconsin Division of Public Health, and two years as an Epidemic Intelligence Officer in the Michigan Department of Public Health. He has deep experience in measuring the health of communities across the full range of public health issues—with intensive work on cancer and tobacco control—and communicating this information to the public and policy makers. He also has experience with conducting community intervention research, research translation, and evaluation. Dr. Remington has served on Institute of Medicine committees and the Secretary's Advisory Committee on the Healthy People 2020 Objectives.
