Marshall H. Chin, MD, MPH, FACP
Appointed to the Task Force: 2013Marshall H. Chin, MD, MPH, FACP is a Professor of Healthcare Ethics in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago, Director of the Chicago Center for Diabetes Translation Research, Co-Director of a Center of Excellence in Geriatrics, and a general internist. Dr. Chin has deep experience in improving the care of vulnerable patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases through health care system and community interventions. Much of his work has been with federally qualified health centers and community health center collaboratives, focusing on older populations and populations with disparities—especially disparities by racial or ethnic group (African American, Latino, Chinese and Mexican American) and socioeconomic status. Dr. Chin has made significant contributions to research methods and study design development, and he has notable experience with systematic reviews, quality improvement, cost studies, and evaluation. He has served on Institute of Medicine and National Quality Forum committees, and many other high level panels.
