Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, MBA

Jonathan E. Fielding, MD, MPH, MBA is the chair of the Community Preventive Services Task Force and was a founding member of the U.S. Clinical Preventive Task Force. Dr. Fielding is currently the director of Public Health and Health Officer, Los Angeles County; distinguished professor of Health Services and Pediatrics, Schools of Public Health and Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles; and a commissioner of the Los Angeles County Children and Families First–Proposition 10 Commission.


Dr. Fielding is also a director of the American Legacy Foundation. Dr. Fielding has certification from the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He served as president and regent for the American College of Preventive Medicine. He has authored or coauthored more than 175 original research articles and chapters on various aspects of public health, preventive medicine, and health services. Dr. Fielding is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine, National Academy of Sciences, and has served on their Population Health and Public Health Practice Board. Dr. Fielding is the editor of the Annual Review of Public Health and a presidentially appointed member of the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion and Integrative and Public Health to the National Prevention, Health Promotion and Public Health Council.


Dr. Fielding received his MD with honors from Harvard University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health in health services administration and health economics from the Harvard University School of Public Health. Dr. Fielding received his MBA in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
